However, there are a few ways that you can practice senior hair care to ensure that you’re looking clean and healthy from head to toe. Don’t Overwash

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to senior hair care is that you must wash your hair on a daily basis. This is actually not true at all. In fact – if you have brittle or thinning hair, washing your hair too frequently can actually be very detrimental for your hair and scalp. Our body naturally produces oils and minerals that moisturize our hair and scalp; so too much washing can wash these away.

It’s recommended that senior wash their hair with shampoo around two or three times per week. This will ensure that you or your senior’s hair is getting cleaned but still maintaining its health.

Eat Healthy

Eating correct foods will ensure that your hair maintains that healthy gloss and luster even as you begin to age. This is key for those want to ensure that they’re maintaining hair that is healthy and easy to maintain. To keep your hair smooth and strong, make sure you are getting plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Foods high in vitamins A and C will help your body produce sebum, which will help keep your senior locks supple and shiny. Protein will also ensure that your hair remains strong and durable as well. Biotin is a vital nutrient for promoting hair growth. Like protein, it will also prevent your hair from becoming brittle by helping your body metabolize fats. Doctors will recommend taking this in supplement form if you are having issues with hair loss.

Keep It Simple

As we grow older, it’s also a good idea to keep our hairstyles simple. While we might want to explore new colors or styles, too much change to your hair can become detrimental.
