Memory care in New Hampshire, which can also go by the terms of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or Alzheimer’s special care units, are facilities that are specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals with forms of dementia. In NH, Alzheimer’s or dementia units are required to meet the needs of the residents and have staff that is properly trained in order to meet the needs of the residents. Assisted living residences – residential care (ALR-RC) facilities may not lock or secure their buildings.

Patients have the right in New Hampshire to be informed, in a manner they understand, their health status and be involved in decisions related to care including options, risks, benefits, outcomes, and side effects. It is also their decision to consent or refuse treatment. Your medical information should be kept confidential and your privacy respected. Someone may be designated by the patient of an Alzheimer’s care community to be involved and informed and make health care decisions for them if they do not have the capacity to do so themselves.
In New Hampshire, patients are able to access their medical records or a copy of their medical records by submitting a written request. Someone else may be able to request the medical records of the patient if they meet certain requirements.
