Diabetes can be a shock to some people, so it’s understandable that he may be shaken by this diagnosis. With that in mind, it’s still important to get him to realize the importance of improving his diet. Really encourage him to follow the doctor’s advice and continue to monitor his blood glucose levels. If you and your father have a chance to eat together, make the healthy choice together to show your solidarity. This way, he won’t feel like he’s going through this completely by himself. If all else fails, it may just take a few trips to the grocery store together to get in the habit of picking the right foods! Best of luck!
