One of the most important things to remember when talking to your elderly parent about moving out is that this is going to be a stressful time for your senior. Moving out of their familiar surroundings to a new place where they don't know anyone is a life-changing event. Keep the conversation two-sided. Don't just tell them that they are moving and that is it. Listen to their concerns and answer their questions. Remain open and honest with them about why it is necessary to move out of their home. Expect to be met with resistance. Remain calm and if the conversation gets too heated, put it to rest and try at a later time.
