I've heard there's a late enrollment penalty for Medicare Part A. Is that true?

In some cases, if you don’t purchase the plan when first becoming eligible, your monthly fee may go up by about 10 percent. Ultimately, you’ll end up paying this higher premium for twice the number of years that you did not sign up for Part A. It is best to enroll as close to your eligibility date as possible, so take note of the various Medicare enrollment periods.
