It's something we don't want to think about, but how should seniors react if they do experience a fall?

Falling suddenly can be a startling experience, so first stay as calm as you can. Try to take several deep breaths and relax. Remain still and try to assess the extent of your potential injury. Before moving, decide if you are hurt since moving in the wrong direction can make the injury worse. If possible, roll onto your side and continue to allow your body to adjust. Then, slowly get onto your hands and knees and crawl to a sturdy place to sit. Because an injury may not be immediately obvious, it’s best to call 911 as soon as you can in order to assess your potential injuries.
