The definition of chronic pain may vary from doctor to doctor, however, any type of pain lasting more than 12 weeks may be described as chronic pain. However, there are a large number of doctors who will not consider it a condition until the pain has lasted at least 6 months.
The pain may be mild, agonizing, spontaneous or endless. Because everyone experiences pain differently, there is no one way that chronic pain will present itself.
