Some signs that may indicate your senior is having trouble driving are as follows:

  • Drifting out of the lane
  • Not merging or changing lanes safely
  • Trouble moving their foot between the gas and brake pedals, or confusing the pedals
  • An increase of collisions or “near misses”
  • Anxiety about driving at night
  • Delayed reactions or poor reflexes
  • New scratches, dings, or dents in the car

If you notice these signs when your senior is driving, it may be time to talk about having your loved one take an assessment for older drivers.
