Unfortunately, no, schizophrenia is a mental disorder or mental illness which has no known cure. After receiving this diagnosis, many people treat it as a sort of death sentence and believe that their loved one no longer has a chance to live a normal life. However, that’s not the case. With hard work, therapy, medication, and a strong support system schizophrenia can be managed, just like many other mental illnesses. Our best recommendation is that both you and your father accept his diagnosis and work hard to ensure that he holds himself accountable for his actions, begins or continues going to therapy, and most importantly, he stays in regular communication with his doctor.
