My great Aunt has fallen multiple times in the last few months. But, every time I talk to her about moving her out of her home, she changes the subject. Does anyone have recommendations for this talk?

Talking to your loved one about moving out of their family home is a difficult conversation. Many times they have lived there for 30+ and simply do not want to leave it. However, when their medical health starts to decline, it’s time to encourage them to move out. One of the best ways to approach this topic is by presenting them with the facts. For example, you can say that they have fallen a certain amount of times this year, they are living downstairs because they can’t climb stairs, they are paying for someone to take care of their home because they can’t anymore, they are paying to have a nurse come into their home once a day to check on them, etc. Whatever the reasoning is behind the move, be sure to explain it to them with cold hard facts, not hypothetical situations. I hope this helps!
