Unfortunately, there are typically no outward symptoms for high blood pressure because they develop very slowly over your lifetime. If your family has a history of high blood pressure, then it is recommended that you have frequent check-ups with your doctor to gauge your risk of hypertension. Generally speaking, if you experience prolonged light-headedness, headaches, nosebleeds, or trouble with your cognition, it is possible you are experiencing a hypertensive crisis. This will be accompanied by a drastic spike in blood pressure which should prompt swift medical attention.
