Now that my dad can't drive anymore, he doesn't want to do the things he used to like go to trivia. Why is he being so stubborn?

You have to remember that as people age and start to lose their sense of independence and mobility, it can be a devastating time for them. Think of how many years your father has been able to go where he needs or wants to go by himself. Think of all the places your dad used to drive you before you got behind the wheel, and now your dad has to be reliant on you for a ride. 

Continue to encourage your dad to continue doing the activities and hobbies he loves. His emotional well-being will depend on it. If your father begins to socially isolate himself, he is at risk of developing depression or increasing his risk of developing certain health conditions.
