Alzheimer’s and dementia are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Alzheimer’s Disease is a type of dementia, but the term dementia is used to describe overall symptoms that impact memory. Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia, and it gets worse with time. Other forms of dementia, such as vascular dementia, happen when someone experiences something such as a stroke.
