I like to have a drink in the evenings, but I was recently diagnosed with diabetes. Are there any alcoholic beverages that are considered to be “diabetic friendly?”

You should definitely consult your physician before you drink alcohol when diabetic. With that said, there are some drinks that can be considered “diabetic-friendly,” even though sugar in alcohol is unavoidable. The most important thing, as with anyone who is drinking alcohol – is to do it in moderation. Light beer and wine are suggested for people with diabetes. Liquor is alright as long as you’re not mixing it with soda or juice, which can cause your sugar levels to spike. Here’s a slideshow of diabetic friendly drinks and cocktails.
