After hiring a personal caregiver for our father, his level of care has increased beyond what we were able to provide. I got to thinking, is there anything that caregivers are not allowed to do?

Generally speaking, most personal home caregivers are not able to perform any clinical or invasive procedures without proper training and permission. Things like administering insulin or other injections are required to be performed by the individual themselves or other family members. Medically unskilled caregivers should also not monitor vitals like blood glucose levels, blood pressure, heart rate, etc.
