My husband is a Vietnam veteran and is currently bound to a wheelchair. Are there benefits available for veterans who have served and are disabled?

Yes, there are benefits that you and your husband can be taking advantage of. You and your husband are likely eligible to pay for senior care with veteran benefits. There are a few requirements that will need to be met depending on what type of benefit you are applying for, however, requirements may include:

  • A veteran must have been discharged from service under other than dishonorable conditions
  • Must have served 90 days or more of active duty with at least one day during a period of war
  • Must be 65 years of age
  • Must be totally or permanently disabled
