There are a lot of differences, however, the main difference is that prescription drugs are not available in stores without doctor’s orders. With over-the-counter drugs, they can contain many different types of substances such as vitamins and minerals, herbal supplements, cold medicines, and even laxatives. Unless recommended by your doctor, stick to what you are prescribed and avoid experimenting with new medicines on a whim.
