My mother hasn't had a fall, but I'm concerned because she seems to be losing her sense of balance. Are there any exercises or activities I can have her to do to increase her balance?

Absolutely. Working on balance is a great way to help prevent falls in seniors. The National Institute of Health (NIH) gives a list of 5 balance exercises for seniors to try to increase their balance.

Visit their site for full instructions and safety tips, but here are some exercises to try:

  • Standing on 1 foot
  • Walking heel to toe
  • Balance walk
  • Back leg raises
  • Side leg raises
