I have a flexible spending account. Can I use it to pay for my father's medical expenses? I've been his caregiver over the past year.

According to the AARP, yes, a caregiver can use their flexible spending account (FSA), to cover expenses for a dependent relative as long as the caregiver has paid for more than 50 percent of the dependent’s expenses. However, be aware that in 2014 a $2,500 federal cap was put into place. For additional questions related specifically to your situation, I recommend contacting an accountant to ensure you qualify.
