My grandmother has developed a tremor in recent years. Does this mean she’s getting Parkinson’s?

Not necessarily! What she is experiencing could just be an essential tremor (ET), something that causes someone’s hands, arms, head, or voice to shake. Although both are technically movement disorders, ET is not dangerous although it can be an inconvenience for many seniors. Luckily, it doesn’t increase the risk for Parkinson’s disease either!
